In this Healio video exclusive, Joanne Stone, MD, MS, and Susan S. Khalil, MD, discussed highlights from the second annual Mount Sinai Women’s Health Forum, a 1-day conference dedicated to the latest updates in care for midlife women.
The day of featured science sessions, held in-person and virtually Nov. 13 at the New York Academy of Medicine, included the latest clinical updates and treatments for women’s sexual health, mental wellness, sleep hygiene, menopause management and aging.
“This course was very timely, with topics that are very patient-centered, including cardiovascular health, brain health, prevention of gynecologic cancers, the impact of aging on muscle and bone mass as well as skin health and sleep,” Khalil, assistant professor in the Raquel and Jaime Gilinski department of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, told Healio. “We were able to tie in clinical pathways and tools to help with innovations in care during the perimenopausal and menopausal transitions. This course was geared toward helping patients feel empowered that there are solutions, as well as providing health care professionals and trainees with additional resources for innovative care.”
Stone, system chair of the Raquel and Jaime Gilinski department of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, said the forum was designed for clinicians, whether attending physicians or trainees, advanced practice providers, as well as patients.
“The idea was to come away with some important takeaways for how to maintain health throughout midlife and beyond,” Stone told Healio.
