Luminescence Event Enlightens Attendees on Women’s Health, Wellness & Longevity

In a time where there are more advancements than ever before, in technology. medicine and beyond, we have sadly seen a decline in overall health. More and more people are dealing with chronic illness and disease, and the average life span is actually going down, not up. Yes, two opposing things can be true at the same time, but it doesn’t mean it’s what we are fated to deal with. When it comes to health and longevity, the key is to take matters into your own hands. Learn about your body, learn about your health and advocate for it. The world of health and wellness is vast, and due to that can be overwhelming. Thankfully there are health angels out there creating spaces and events to build community, education and resources to help the average person achieve optimal health. When you don’t know where to start, Schuyler Grant and Jeff Krasno will step in to help you, thanks to their immense knowledge and passion shared on the COMMUNE platform.

COMMUNE was created to create as a global wellness community around the practices and ideas of the world’s greatest teachers. The creators of COMMUNE believe that people are better when they connect, and these relationships are healthier when people feel whole. They believe it is up to us to make choices that help us feel whole: move our bodies, eat fresh foods, set aside time to rest, invest in meaningful friendships…to make the world well, we must be well.
Grant and Krasno produced Wanderlust, one of the biggest health festivals in the world, for many years. Grant said they “pivoted out of that, but through our yoga studios, we know how important it is to be in person and how different it is to learn in-person than online. Through Wanderlust, we know the longtail of being together is a real thing.” From this, Luminescence was born. A gathering of female health and community, the inaugural Luminescence summit made its debut on Saturday, February 1, 2025, with over 1,500 in attendance at the iconic Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. This groundbreaking one-day summit on women’s health and longevity brought together a powerful lineup of female thought leaders, health experts, and wellness icons for an inspiring day of learning, connection, and transformation. “I guarantee you women will leave Luminescence and down the line they will reflect that this event was the pivot point [in their wellness journey]. Where they turned left instead of right.”

Luminescence embodied the nurturing and introspective qualities of feminine energy. It was a celebration not only of individual health but of the vibrant, supportive community that women create when they come together to learn, share, and grow. “We clearly framed this event for and about women. Women tend to live longer than men, women are the caretakers, and now often the breadwinners. Longevity is health adjacent, very commercialized, and often very male dominated. Men tend to gamify it, looking for a way to (bio)hack the system and win. Most women don’t identify with that. Most women are interested in quality over quantity and want to live as long as they healthily can and then die quickly and peacefully. We want to increase our health span, not necessarily just our life span,” Grant shared.
The day was buzzing with female energy, positive thoughts and uplifting insights. Attendees had the chance to hear from numerous thought leaders and inspirational women, including Jillian Michaels, Dr. Mindy Pelz, Dr. Robin Berzin, Dr. Emily Morse, Dr. Jolene Brighton, Dr. Casey Means, Dr. Sara Gottfried, JJ Virgin, Kayla Barnes and more. All of the incredible women who spoke at Luminescence have courses on the COMMUNE platform. While most of their courses are five to ten hours long, this event allowed them to share some key topics with attendees, who can take the COMMUNE courses later and learn more about the topics that are most relevant to them. Events like Luminescence and platforms like COMMUNE allow everyday people to be “citizen scientists,” a buzzy term that simply implies that we have resources and tools in our own hands to learn about our bodies and achieve optimal health and wellness.

Some highlights from the day included…
- Kimberly Snyder, a master of heart coherence (syncing of heart, brain and nervous system) kicked things off with a heart-centering meditation, helping attendees center themselves and open their hearts for the powerful afternoon ahead. A key takeaway she shared – you need nervous system balance no matter what else you are doing.
- Dr. Sara Gottfried highlighted the alarming health disparities women face, including higher rates of insomnia, depression, Alzheimer’s, and autoimmune diseases, driven by toxic stress, trauma, and societal pressures to over-function, all while keeping the audience in fits of giggles. She argued that the solution to improving women’s health goes beyond tech or engineering and called for a more positive reframing of a woman’s hormonal journey, viewing hormonal changes as a natural initiation rather than a problem to be fixed. She thanked Millennials for “calling bullshit” on the standards of healthcare. What other generations have dealt with, she said will no longer be the case.
- JJ Virgin and Kayla Barnes outlined the importance of strength training and body composition for women’s health and longevity, emphasizing the need to shift from cardio-focused routines to prioritizing muscle mass. They discussed the impact of muscle loss starting in the 30s and doubling in the 60s, and shared strategies for improving recovery, managing stress, and how to track progress. The ladies recommended prioritizing sleep, exercise, nutrition, community/social connection and environment for the most optimal wellness.
- Dr. Jolene Brighton delved into the often-overlooked aspects of women’s sexual health, discussing the science of sexual desire, arousal, libido, and orgasms, while offering practical insights on how women can enhance their sexual well-being through hormonal balance, nutrition, and lifestyle changes.
- Dr. Emily Morse, an immensely popular Instagram sensation, and Schuyler Grant explored navigating sexuality and relationships during the two major transitions in a woman’s life – puberty and menopause – challenging cultural norms and offering ways to foster healthier, more empowering narratives around sex, pleasure, and partnerships, while advocating for better support and education for future generations of women. Dr. Morse recommends focusing on the 3 T’s when it comes to have conversations about sex – timing, tone and turf. Choose a time when you and your partner are not angry, talk calmly and find a comfortable turf, such as in the car or on a walk where you don’t have to be eye to eye for the conversation.
- Dr. Robin Berzin and Dr. Mindy Pelz highlighted the challenges women face in getting accurate diagnoses for chronic health conditions, particularly when traditional medical care falls short. They discussed how many women are often told “everything looks normal” despite ongoing symptoms (55% of women experience being gaslit by a doctor), emphasizing the importance of advocating for comprehensive, integrative care, using diet, fasting, and personalized testing to uncover hidden health issues and improve long-term wellness. “Hope has to be in the picture. If you don’t feel hope, you can’t heal,” shared Dr. Pelz.
- Dr. Casey Means delivered an insightful presentation on the critical role of metabolic health in preventing some of today’s most common and deadly health issues, emphasizing that metabolic health is a key driver of overall well-being and shared actionable strategies for improving it, such as better nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes. Dr. Means said we are our own catalyst for change. Something as simple as buying the healthy products you need and want helps – it’s voting with your dollars.
- Jillian Michaels ended the day while offering a comprehensive plan to integrate the day’s lessons and build a sustainable path forward for health and longevity. She discussed how to overcome fear, build a strong self-image, and ultimately take the leap of faith to achieve lasting success.
As the entire Saban Theater participated in a breathwork session you could feel the energy in the room. There is something incredibly powerful about sitting in a room, in silence, taking deep, restorative breaths with 1,500 other women. The desire to learn about women’s health, as well as tips and tricks for optimal wellness and longevity was palpable. It was plain to see that everyone in attendance was tuned in and ready to learn and to contribute. Afterall, community is an important aspect of both wellness and longevity. “We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring together such a remarkable group of women. And by this I don’t just mean the doctors and experts, who have such a deep passion for advancing women’s health, but also the 1,500 plus attendees who brought an incredible caliber of insights and engagement,” said Grant. “The energy and connections shared today have been deeply inspiring. As we move forward, we are committed to continuing this important conversation and to empowering women to take charge of their health. Living a longer and more fulfilled life should be everyone’s birthright.”
