GE HealthCare has launched ReadyFix, a remote fleet management solution intended to help hospitals monitor and maintain connected medical devices, beginning with its MAC VU360 resting electrocardiogram workstations.
The Chicago-based company said ReadyFix is designed to support device uptime by enabling remote monitoring, diagnostics and software management of MAC VU360 systems across a hospital. The platform uses real-time data and remote access to device logs to help biomedical engineering teams identify and address technical issues without requiring on-site intervention.
The initial rollout focuses on cardiac diagnostics, an area where device availability can directly affect patient throughput and care delivery. GE HealthCare said ReadyFix allows standardized configurations to be deployed remotely by department, which can help ensure consistent workflows and ECG protocols. Software updates can be pushed immediately or scheduled in advance, and devices can be reconfigured after installation if clinical needs change.
Together, we keep your devices optimized for care
Your team plays a critical role to ensure biomedical devices are ready to go. GE HealthCare’s comprehensive suite of services can help keep your equipment at peak performance and completely ready for care.
The launch comes as hospitals face increasing pressure on biomedical engineering resources. Hospitals may manage thousands of connected devices, while workforce shortages persist. According to federal labor data cited by the company, openings for biomedical equipment technicians are expected to outpace the number of new graduates entering the field over the next decade.
“Remote fleet management tools provide us with the clarity, structure and real-time insights needed to stay ahead of equipment issues and maintain a high standard of reliability across the hospital,” said Tony Williams, director of Biomedical Engineering at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola. “These tools elevate the way our biomedical engineering team supports patient care equipment.”
ReadyFix becomes part of GE HealthCare’s broader DeviceReady remote management portfolio. While the current deployment is limited to MAC VU360 ECG workstations, the company said the platform has been designed to support additional devices and care areas in the future.
“As healthcare systems continue to adopt more complex and connected devices, the need for more efficient fleet management solutions has never been greater,” said Neal Sandy, head of Product Strategy and Management for Patient Care Solutions, GE HealthCare.
